Heading into 2026, South Boston’s real estate landscape carries a few clear risks:

➡️ Employment: Boston’s labor market is cooling where it matters most, among higher earners. If that softness turns into real job insecurity, buyers stop coming to the table..

➡️ Equities: More household wealth than ever is tied up in the stock market. A sharp correction would hit both confidence and down payment capital at once.

➡️ Affordability & Inventory: Nearly half of Southie listings this year failed to sell, and price cuts surged. That usually signals more inventory ahead, and with it, further pricing pressure.

It sounds heavy, but this isn’t a collapse story. It’s a market working through price discovery we haven’t seen in a long time. South Boston still has the fundamentals to weather a choppier 2026🙌
